Equipment Needs

There are 2 processes in which heat is removed from water, causing it to freeze:

  • Air-cooled condenser

    • Uses the surrounding air to remove the heat from the refrigerant

      • Proper ventilation is necessary

      • Space on both sides of the ice machine is required

      • Surrounding air temperature should be 45 – 80 degrees

  • Water-cooled condenser (restrictive codes may apply)

    • Uses water to remove the heat from refrigerant

      • Higher water usage

      • Machine can be placed in small confined areas

      • Less maintenance
